Guy Thompson always knew that he wanted to be an attorney. Since he was in high school, Guy enjoyed reading U.S. Supreme Court decisions and listening to oral arguments. More than anything, Guy liked to read the legal rules and procedures because he was fascinated with understanding the operation and mechanics of law. He wanted to learn both the meaning of the law and how to properly apply it.
The other passion in Guy’s life is helping people solve complex problems. He connects with people at a deep level and tries to look at every issue from the other person’s perspective. Guy’s passion for helping people is why he is a family law attorney. Guy strives to be a source of strength and guidance for his clients while they experience some of the most challenging times of their lives.
Guy was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. He earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Arizona State University. After living in Spain for nearly a year, Guy earned his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School, where he competed in oral arguments as part of the Moot Court Appellate Board and earned the A. Harold Weber Moot Court Award for excellence in oral advocacy.
Before moving to Portland, Guy was an Assistant Attorney General in Arizona for three years. Guy represented the Arizona Department of Child Safety in juvenile dependency cases and the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions in consumer protection matters.
When Guy is not working, he enjoys volunteering with St. Andrew Legal Clinic, organizing events for the Notre Dame Club of Portland, and running. He also enjoys hiking the trails around Portland with his wife and Australian Shepherd, Klaus.
